7th COJEP Award Ceremony in Strasbourg

The NGO COJEP International awarded several personalities and their work from different walks of life – including EMU President Abu Bakr Rieger

On 30 January 2015 in Strasbourg, COJEP International (an international NGO operating in 15 European countries which works in different fields like Human Rights, Anti-Racism, Intercultural Dialogue, Youth issues, Coexistence and Citizenship) awarded nine European personalities for their work in different fields.

The award ceremony which was held in the evening in the historic Salle de Mozart in the old city of Strasbourg was attended by about 200 guests. After an introduction from the COJEP presidency and further leading figures, the awards were handed to their recipients by different activists and VIPs. Each honored person was lauded by a short video clip and addressed the audience in a short speech afterwards.

Thes recipients were: the well-known investigative Journalist Edwy Plenel (award for living together), the young activist Yannis Mahil (award for the fight against racism and discrimination), EMU president Abu Bakr Rieger (award for intercultural dialogue), the french activist Abdelaziz Chaambi (award for civil society), Nabil Ennasri (award for citizenship), the humanitarian organisation Barakacity (award for humanitarian work), Christine Lazerges (award for human rights) and the deputy Prime Minister of Turkey, Numan Kurtulus (award for the political personality).

COJEP International has participatory status with the Council of Europe, was admitted to the Operational Relations with UNESCO and has consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations.
