In major western cities, divergent social and economic forces are leading to the breakup of community cohesion. With a change in attitude, Muslim communities could have something to offer.
Two years ago, the largest mosque in Germany at that time was opened in Duisburg. The building in Duisburg-Marxloh received considerable attention, not only because of its size, but also because its construction was relatively conflict-free. What impact could the construction of mosques have on western cities and what does the Muslim population have to offer in these areas?
