On 24/25 March 2011 Istanbul hosted the Council of Europe’s Conference of INGOs on “New multicultural challenges: how can NGOs play their part?”, as part of the Turkish Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers.
The aims of the forum, which brought together representatives of around 160 international or national NGOs, were:
· give a civil society dimension to work being carried out on the White Paper on Intercultural Dialogue adopted by the Committee of Ministers in May 2008;
· contribute to the work of the pan-European project “Living together in 21st century Europe”;
· identify best practice as the basis for an intercultural dialogue “toolkit” that addresses the new challenges.
